Changing the traditional dates and venue of Art Miami 2007 has repositioned the fair as the second most important art event in Miami during the first week of December. More than 100 leading national and international galleries participated in the 2007 fair, which attracted more than 20,000 attendees. The opening night of Art Miami strategically took place prior to other fairs and was attended by important international collectors, art enthusiasts and museum professionals—all under the watchful eye of the faithful local collector base that Art Miami has established over the past 18 years.
In addition to last year’s significant sales and increased attendance, Art Miami was applauded for the depth and quality of the art featured by exhibiting galleries. Art Miami offers participating galleries and attending collectors access to a unique ambience and the most expansive stands of any satellite fair. It is the perfect platform for modern and contemporary galleries to present mid-career, career and emerging living artists.
This year, Art Miami anticipates a prominent selection of European, American and Asian galleries representing an impressive selection of modern and contemporary art. Through the success of last year's fair and continued enthusiasm in 2008, Art Miami will continue to establish a distinct identity among other fairs, attract a broader collector base and garner increased media attention in Miami during the month of December.
Art Miami’s extensive marketing and public relations campaign will continue to position the fair as the venue of choice for leading galleries by providing information and access to the thriving, affluent, expanding base of local and international collectors and art enthusiasts who visit Miami during the world’s most-talked-about art-fair season.
Plans are currently in progress for this year’s fair to include a designer VIP Lounge, a café offering delectable cuisine and beverages, ample parking, space for outdoor sculptures and inspiring ancillary projects that have yet to be announced. Shuttle service will be available between select Miami Beach hotels, the Miami Beach Convention Center (Art Basel) and Art Miami.
Art Miami 2008 will take place in the Miami Midtown Arts District, located just north of downtown Miami along Biscayne Boulevard. The neighborhood, bordered by Biscayne Bay on the East and the Design District on the North, has undergone a major renaissance driven by the growing desire of people to leave the monotony of the suburbs to live in a vital, stimulating urban environment filled with interesting restaurants, live music venues and art galleries.
The Art Miami fair is strategically placed between Miami International Airport and the most direct route to Miami Beach. This year’s location offers direct access to Route 195 East (The Julia Tuttle Causeway) and is only 5.5 miles (a 10-minute drive) away from the Miami Beach Convention Center and the City of Miami Beach.
