Mapping the Blank Spots
Wednesday, December 2 – Sunday, December 6, During fair hours
This innovative video program, curated by Julia Draganovic and Asher Remy-Toledo, will be presented in the Art Miami Pavilion on Midtown Boulevard December 2-6, 2009. The program examines video art in the context of globalization by presenting work from art institutions, museums and private collections, worldwide, which focuses on “local realities - habits and traditions that help define disparate locations.”Mapping the Blank Spots is the second video program sponsored by Art Miami. It follows the fair’s well-received 2008 Art Video/New Media Lounge, also curated by Asher Remy Toledo.

Rahraw Omarzad (Afghanistan) - from the Center of Contemporary Art Afghanistan in Kabul
Peng Hung Chih (Taiwan) - from the Kaohsiung Museum for Fine Arts, Taipei, Taiwan
Aurelia Mihai (Romania) - from the Museum Goch, Germany
Charlotte Ginsborg (United Kingdom) - presented by the Landsecurity Collection, London, England
Ivan Nicolas Grum Beytia (Chile) - presented by the Inter-American Development Bank, Washington, D.C.
Donna Kukama (South Africa) - presented by the Visual Arts Network of South Africa, Johannesburg, South Africa

Art Bloggers @, an organization founded by Sharon Butler and Joanne Mattera in 2007, is hosting a panel discussion at Art Miami. Entitled, “Beyond Basic Blogging: Carving Our Niche in the Blogosphere,” the panel will discuss developments in art blogging from the past year. Participating panelists include: Sharon Butler, Thomas Hollingworth, Paddy Johnson, Roberta Fallon, Libby Rosof and Hrag Vartanian. Joanne Mattera will be the moderator.
